RRBC’S BETHANY TURNER “PAY IT FORWARD” WEEK – Maggie Thom

lizgavin's avatarLiz Gavins Blog

Please welcome fellow author Maggie Thom on the second day of PIF Week.

When I visited her website to gather information for this post, I came across a LOT of great books and interesting information but this sentence caught my eye and fired my imagination:

I-read-to-live-an-adventure-I-never-would-in-real-life-3x5

It got me thinking because I do that as a reader but I certainly do that as a writer as well. You didn’t think my erotic stories were autobiographical, did you?  😀

Seeing as Maggie writes suspense and thrillers, I guess it’s fair to assume she writes about adventures she’d never do in real life, am I right? LoL

Her website also offers useful links to authors and suggestions for readers. In a nutshell – YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IT! Visit now – click here.

Tips For Successful Book Cover Design

Your Digital Publishing Cheat Sheet's avatarYour Digital Publishing Cheat Sheet

Authors pour their hearts and souls into their books. They’ve spent countless hours over a keyboard whipping characters and plots into shape. Once the story is done, authors want people to read their story. The book cover design entices people to buy and read the book. Without a great cover design the book will languish on the shelf. No one will click on it online.

When starting the design process begin with a vague concept. Don’t be too stringent in the beginning. For instance, your idea should be a couple sitting on a park bench rather than an old gray haired couple sitting on a park bench eating ice cream. Review available stock photos before limiting the concept.

Don’t show too much of your character. Studies have shown that readers like to build their own character image. One of the problems with converting books to movies is the actor doesn’t…

Linda Mims's avatarThe Long and Short Stories of Life

J Sherwin pic We kick off Bethany Turner’s Pay It Forward Week honoring a well liked author in the Rave Reviews Book Club community—Jennie Sherwin—author of “Intentional Healing: One Woman’s Path to Higher Consciousness and Freedom from Environmental and Other Chronic Illnesses”.

Today, we salute a writer whose style, as described by Amazon Kindle readers, is “crisp and clear”. One reviewer said, “I found this book beautifully written and so compelling.” While another reviewer commented, “It was such a joy to read that I could not put it down.”

This former high school English teacher and writer/editor in the field of public health was propelled to undertake a medical journey that ultimately revealed healing solutions that would inform her journey to self healing from environmental illnesses and chemical sensitivity.

Please help me make fellow author S. M. Spencer feel at home at this stop on her blog tour! The best way to do that is liking, commenting, and sharing her post as well as writing sincere REVIEWS for her books! 😀

I for one loved her post about the inspiration for the Absent Shadows trilogy. After all, I’m a HUGE fan of paranormal romance! So I decided to make a small contribution to her awesome post by means of illustrating it.

Write Anything Wednesday – August 12, 2015

Kristi S. Simpson's avatarWriterish Ramblings

You know the drill, write something. Why? It’s a great day to write and I say why not? Write absolutely anything. Try your hand at flash fiction or write a poem. Make an outline or character sketch. Write a chapter, or as many chapters as you can. Nothing to write about? Try making a list of ideas or free-write. Make Wednesday your weekly no-matter-what writing day. If this isn’t a good day then pick another. The important thing is to simply write.

If you feel stumped grab a timer and do ten minute sprints. The first time you do this might not garner great results but the more you do the more you get used to it and your muse will start to shine.

If you would like a prompt:

  • What is the perfect day of the week to get married and why?
  • Make your character colorblind for a day…
