Today’s Prompt: Summer Reading 2015

Good evening followers. I know I was supposed to have prompts reblogged and queued. I’ve been busy this past week and have a lot of commitments at the moment. With that being said, how is everyone this week? For today/tonight’s prompt I want to know what you’re going to read this Summer. In less than 18 days away it will be the first day of Summer. Where’s the time going? Just yesterday we were digging our way out of 12 inches of snow, buying Valentine’s Day gifts and celebrating Easter. Pretty soon it will be Back to School sales, Fall semester, Comic-Con, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The fast cycle of life never ends or slows down doesn’t it? -sigh-

Prompt 9: We Like to Party

I’ve got an odd and broad taste in music. From choral piety to, well, festival trap edits.

I know you’ve got at least one character in some story somewhere that likes to party. This one’s for him.

For this prompt, write a purely plot-driven party scene, preferably one that tosses your character(s) around like overwhelming ocean waves of adrenaline. Start small and believable and then get bigger and more absurd as the night goes on. Decide how you want your character to wake up the next morning and drive toward that feeling.

I belong to an online support group for indie authors, and the wonderful folks who read them, called The Rave Reviews Book Club. The driving force behind this smaller, more intimate Goodreads-type group is Nonnie Jules, a powerhouse of energy dedicated to supporting and promoting her fellow authors.

This month I have the privilege of being named Member of the Month, and being a focus of social media support from the others in the group. It is a humbling experience and seems to be having an impact on the downloads and sales of my books. The Amazon ranking of my latest release, The First Ladies Club, has jumped over 600,000 places during the first week of the month.

I often read experts who say Twitter and Facebook don’t have much impact on fiction sales, but when it comes to support from other authors, they can’t be beat. At least…
